Family Fun This Weekend (July 13-15)

Rain Rain Go Away…rumors of rain are in the forecast, let’s hope it misses us as we head into a wonderful jam-packed weekend in Cincinnati.

ALL WEEKEND

This is it folks – the butterflies at the International Butterfly Show are leaving on a jetplane after Sunday so SEE THEM THIS WEEKEND!

The Clinton County Fair is happening Friday & Saturday in Wilmington! Check out their site for all the details on events.

The World Choir Games continue through Saturday and this historical event is not to be missed.  Read more on our post from earlier this month.

There is always a free movie night somewhere in the city – check out our awesome list of your options courtesy of Shannan.

Head down to Smale Riverfront Park sometime this weekend for fun in the city’s newest center for fun.

You’d have to be living under a rock not to know about St. Rita’s Festival – it’s THE festival in the Tri-State.  It’s happening THIS weekend in case you just crawled out!

As Kandi shared on Thursday, the MidUSA Ohio Challenge is happening in Middletown all weekend.  Hot Air Balloons just make imaginations soar – don’t miss this great opportunity to see them!

FRIDAY

If it’s the second Friday, it’s OAKLEY AFTER HOURS!  Visit wonderful Oakley for family fun at blue manatee, Aglamesis, Habits Cafe, our friends at Brazee Street Studios and more!   When you are at blue manatee, start your FIND WALDO journey!

On Friday & Saturday, the Sycamore Festival happens at Bechtold Park – plenty of family fun including food, rides and music!  6pm to midnight each night

After 4pm, admission is free at the Cincinnati Museum Center this Friday!

Friday Night Grill Outs at Lake Isabella! Bring family and friends to Lake Isabella and enjoy a great evening of freshly grilled meals and live music on the dock.  Fun starts at 5pm!

SATURDAY

Head to Woodland Mound Seasongood Nature Center (map) to enjoy a summer  light show provided by Mother Nature. We’ll try to catch fireflies while learning a few facts and fiction about these amazing beetles.  Starts at 8:30pm.

Enjoy a Night Nature Hike at Shawnee Lookout Blue Jacket Trail (map) and check out some nocturnal animals and what they do with the lights go out.

Saturday and Sunday visit the Highfield Discovery Garden at Glenwood Gardens for FAIRIES IN THE GARDEN. The program is happening at 1pm and 4pm each day.

Get creative at Brazee Street Studios with their Family Open House from 10am-1pm.  This month’s works of arts are MINI SUN-CATCHERS and they are adorable, each a one of a kind keepsake!

It’s Bastille Day in Montgomery on Saturday from noon to 11pm.  QUI QUI MON CHERI! 

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra will have a free concert Saturday night at Boone Woods at the Stage. Performance begins at 7pm. Visit the Boone County website for details.

SUNDAY

The Taft Museum is always free on Sundays and this Sunday is extra special because it’s THIRD SUNDAY FUNDAY! Visit this weekend and explore the Old Masters to Impressionists: Three Centuries of French Painting, brush up on your high school French with a refresher course and the kids can make a craft inspired by these great works – there will even be a MIME!  Fun happens from 1 to 4 Sunday afternoon. At 2 and 3, dancers from Arts Innovation Movement will demonstrate ballet. Visit their site for more details.

Visit the Freedom Center on Sunday for some family-friendly music to lift the spirit and relax the soul!  Every Sunday this Summer, the Freedom Center is offering the program – what a great reason to visit this local treasure.

The Wump Mucket Puppets are performing a free show at Julian’s Deli in Loveland at 2pm.

Bat Program at 2pm in Woodland Mound Seasongood Nature Center. Learn all about these misunderstood creatures that share our area. Then find out all the great stuff they do for us!

It’s Butterfly Sundae at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve Ellenwood Nature Barn – 1pm to 4pm. It’s a celebration of butterflies! See a butterfly video, take a hike and visit the butterfly gardeners. Children can complete a butterfly craft and scavenger hunt. Enjoy an old-fashioned ice cream sundae, lemonade, iced tea and grilled corn at this festival.  Note: We went last year and it was some of the best corn I’ve ever had…the butterflies were pretty awesome too.
As part of the Art for All series in the Hamilton County Parks, everyone is invited to Sidewalk Chalk Art for Kids at 2pm – Sharon Woods’ Sharon Centre.
